Purpose of Job
To be responsible as team leader for youth and family work (11 – 18 years) at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.
To provide pastoral support to children and families in or linked to MP Baptist Church.
To teach and develop the Christian faith and spiritual development with young people.
To engage with young people within the local community and be able to create activities that will enable engagement with the church community.
Planning, leading, organizing a varied programme for young people on a Sunday morning and in small groups throughout the week.
Teaching and explaining the Christian faith in innovative ways that helps to engage young people with the gospel.
Providing for the pastoral care and support for our youth.
Developing a mentoring programme for the youth.
Organizing residential (Spring Harvest and Soul Survivor) and away day occasions for the youth.
Being a part of the ministry leadership team. This includes line management meetings with the Ministry Assistant.
Being a team player who can organize and encourage a volunteer team.
Have inspirational leadership qualities that encourages and recruit new team members to support the youth ministry.
Undertaking administrative duties particularly data bases and safe guarding practice and policy.
The Youth Worker will be expected to maintain good working relationships with many people in and outside the church. They must be ready to deal with the expected as well as the unexpected. The nature of the job requires a high degree of confidentiality, tact and discretion.

Our Open Door Community Shop aims to reach our local neighbourhood with the love of Jesus. Staffed mainly by volunteers from the church and the neighbourhood, it is normally open:
- Monday to Friday, 10:00am to 4:00pm
- Saturday 10:00am to 1:00pm
A wide range of second-hand goods are available, and there is a seating area for serving refreshments, which has proved to be an invaluable place for listening and talking with our neighbours. Click here for more information about our Community Shop.
We are seeking volunteers who are willing to assist the Manager on a regular basis, and in particular with the following activities:
- Volunteering in the shop area, arranging and tidying displays, and other general tasks as requested by the Manager;
- Volunteering in the cafe area, preparing and serving hot drinks, washing up, chatting with customers, and other general tasks as requested by th Manager.
